What Types of Annuities are Available?

In addition to deciding when you would like your income to begin, you can also customize your annuity by choosing from the following annuity types.

Single

  • Beginning on the income start date (the date of the first payment), you will receive monthly payments for your lifetime.
  • Upon your death, all payments stop and the contract terminates.
  • There is no death benefit if you die after payments begin.

Joint

  • Beginning on the income start date (the date of the first payment), you and your Joint Annuitant will receive monthly payments for life.
  • If you die first, your Joint Annuitant will continue to receive a specified percentage (50%, 66.67%, 75%, or 100%) of your monthly income payment for the remainder of their lifetime.
  • If your Joint Annuitant dies first, you will continue to receive your monthly income payment for the remainder of your lifetime.
  • There is no death benefit if both you and the Joint Annuitant die after payments begin.

Single

  • Beginning on the income start date (the date of the first payment), you will receive monthly payments for your lifetime.
  • If you die before your original deposit amount has been paid back to you in monthly payments, the remaining amount will be paid to your designated beneficiary in one lump sum.

Joint

  • Beginning on the income start date (the date of the first payment), you and your Joint Annuitant will receive monthly payments for life.
  • If you die first, your Joint Annuitant will continue to receive a specified percentage (50%, 66.67%, 75%, or 100%) of your monthly income payment for the remainder of their lifetime.
  • If your Joint Annuitant dies first, you will continue to receive your monthly income payment for the remainder of your lifetime.
  • If both of you die before your original deposit amount has been paid back to you in monthly payments, the remaining amount will be paid to your designated beneficiary in one lump sum.

Single

  • Beginning on the income start date (the date of the first payment), you will receive monthly payments for your lifetime.
  • If you die before the end of the fixed period selected at purchase (5, 10, 15, or 20 years), your designated beneficiary will continue to receive monthly payments until the end of the fixed period.
  • If you die after the end of the fixed period selected at purchase (5, 10, 15, or 20 years), there is no death benefit.

Joint

  • Beginning on the income start date (the date of the first payment), you and your Joint Annuitant will receive monthly payments for life.
  • If you die before the end of the fixed period selected at purchase (5, 10, 15, or 20 years), your Joint Annuitant will continue to receive full monthly payments until the end of the fixed period. At the end of the fixed period, the Joint Annuitant will continue to receive a specified percentage (50%, 66.67%, 75%, or 100%) of your monthly income payment for the remainder of their lifetime.
  • If your Joint Annuitant dies first, you will continue to receive your monthly income payment for the remainder of your lifetime.
  • If both of you die before the end of the fixed period selected at purchase (5, 10, 15, or 20 years), your designated beneficiary will receive the full monthly payments for the remainder of the fixed period.

Single

  • Beginning on the income start date (the date of the first payment), you will receive monthly payments for the fixed period selected at purchase (5, 10, 15, or 20 years).
  • If you die before the end of the fixed period, your designated beneficiary will receive the full monthly payments for the remainder of the fixed period.

Joint

A Joint option is not available with a Fixed Period Only annuity.
