Designing Our Personal Retirement Journey
My husband and I have always planned to spend more time traveling when we retire, and want to ensure that our retirement savings will allow us to do so. While reviewing our retirement income sources, it was clear that we would need additional income to maintain our lifestyle and incorporate more travel.
We decided to explore a Deferred Income Annuity that would provide income payments later in life. By deferring our income for 10 years, we were able to reduce our up-front investment and generate enough income to meet our financial goals.
Exploring New Vistas
Now that we've reached retirement and started receiving our income payments, we are able to cover all of our basic expenses and visit a new location at least once a year. We are loving our newfound freedom, and the fact that our annuity covers both of our lifetimes.
